We are picking up some new pups from Whitegold Goldens in Rice, VA. Here is the one that I call Little Bo Peep.

Once again we have the sound of little puppy squeaks in our house. A litter of 8 females and 4 males was born on our 19th anniversary and are now a week old. It is amazing just how fast pups grow. These little ones have just about doubled their weight in the last week or so.

It looks like we might also have a litter right behind this litter as Tasha is being bred this week. The first pups should be ready for new homes on September 13th and the second litter about 2 months behind them.

The whole family, both human and canine, is glad for the slightly lower temperatures this week but the goldens are still choosing their air-conditioned kennel over being outside and mostly the human family is also. Right now the new pups are thriving on the heat. Temperatures of 75 – 80 degrees are great for the little ones but their poor mom isn’t as fond of the heat. In about a week we can start giving everyone room temperatures that are about 10 degrees cooler because the pups will have developed the ability to regulate their body temps.

Only yesterday we were trying to get families out here through 2 or more feet of snow. Now we have the air conditioning on and none of the goldens is interested in going out into the mid-day heat. We are currently waiting for our next litter of pups. It was nice to have the breathing space that we had between litters. We were able to attend 2 family reunions thanks to a vet student that stays here and watches our kennel. Thanks David!

All of the Shiloh’s pups are getting ready to go home

In about a week, we will be saying goodbye to our little ones. 8 weeks sure passes quickly. We have had the good fortune of meeting some wonderful families that will be adding one of our pups to their households. Here is one of Shiloh’s babies asleep in her new mom’s arms:

We are getting updates and pictures

Bella

With 30 pups in their new homes, you can just imagine the number of gorgeous pictures and glowing updates we are getting. Thanks to all of the families that have taken the time to tell us how our ‘babies’ are doing. Here is a quote from a recent e-mail which made me smile:

“Bella is just the cutest little thing, She is a very active little one. She gets into everything and definitely keeps me on my toes.
The other day J’s backback was moving across the kitchen floor by itself . It took me a few minutes but then I noticed the backpack had a tail and four paws. Last Thursday she started her puppy training. There are five puppies in the class… She was just so excited and wanted to play. She was so funny and definitely the class clown. But she is also doing very well and has learned many commands and it is easy to train her…The (picture) is in R’s room. That was quite a challenge to get a picture as she wanted to eat all of R’s stuffed animals.”

Shiloh has 11 new little ones who are well filled out and healthy. She is a wonderful mom and very attentive to her little ones. I wonder if the pups will look like she did when she was little. Here is her picture:

Tess

Shiloh is on house arrest waiting for her pups. We only let her out under immediate supervision. Sometimes nature tells our moms that they have to find a den for their new little ones and we’ve had moms try to tunnel under our outbuildings, go into the woods, under the steps, etc. We expect her pups anytime this weekend or early next week.

Goodbye little ones!

All of our December pups are with their families except for 4 that are waiting for their families to return from vacations. I wonder if the pups that remain wonder where the rest of the 24 pups went. We can see the excitement and wonder in the eyes of the families that come to get their new little family member. Almost all of them can pick out the pup they last saw 2 weeks before!
